I’ve been giving my campaign a lot of thought as we’re now within 45-days before early voting begins. If you know me, you know campaigning and politics are well outside of my comfort zone. What is not outside of my comfort zone is leading, doing & listening. While I continue to door knock and attend community events to meet people, this has helped me process what I’ve heard and share who I am. Thanks in advance for reading and don’t hesitate to reach out and learn more.
As a candidate for the Frederick County School Board, I believe in the power of respectful dialogue, experienced leadership, and community-driven solutions. I’m not running to talk about people I’m running to talk with people. Why? Because meaningful change doesn’t come from division or personal agendas. It comes from sitting at the table, discussing ideas and opportunities to improve our schools, together.
Throughout my career and in my community involvement, I’ve built a reputation as a steady, thoughtful leader and a dedicated listener. Whether it’s been managing teams, teaching adult-learners, mentoring & coaching youth, or working side-by-side with parents and educators, I’ve consistently prioritized collaboration over confrontation and solutions over soundbites.
Our students, teachers, and families deserve a school board focused on results. They need board members who are willing to roll up their sleeves, listen with humility, ask tough questions (boy, I’ve had them), and act with integrity. I’m that kind of leader.
What does that look like in action?
We won’t always agree. But I believe strongly that disagreement doesn’t have to be disagreeable. We can and must model for our children how to engage in civil, productive conversations. That starts with leadership that values people over politics.
So, as you head to the polls starting September 19th (early voting), I ask for your vote not just for me, but for a better kind of conversation about our schools. One that’s about what we can build together, not what we can tear down separately.
Let’s pull up a chair, sit at the table, and get to work for our students, our teachers, and our future. ~ Chris
